In 1944, Gloria, along with her mother, relocated to Washington, DC, where she graduated from Howard University majoring in Sociology. Upon completion of her degree, she entered federal government service. She worked for a brief period at the former Freedmen's Hospital, during which time she met and married her beloved husband, LeRoy. Gloria eventually began a career in Personnel Management at the former HEW, where she proudly continued to serve a total of 35 years until her retirement.
Gloria was known to all as an ever-loving and generous soul, eager to lend a helpful hand wherever needed.
In addition to her devoted husband LeRoy,
she leaves to mourn: two loving daughters, Lynda and Lisa;
five grandchildren, Prentice, Aaron,
Lauren, Ahmik and Alexander;
her beloved mother, Octavia; one brother,
Lloyd; and many, many other loving
relatives and friends.
