This you knows … I be lurks@waterholes, the WebMaster for Virtual Tombstones™, and times past counting I done the tell. But this ain't just anybody's tell. This be the tell for the Family of Dr. Warren Seymour Wilkins, MD, my father's brother-in-law. So listen well to what I sez, 'cause what you hears today, you gots to tell them whats birthed tomorrow.

I be Dennette Arthur Harrod, Jr., the son of Dennette Arthur Harrod and Phyllis Greenfield. My father had a younger brother (my Uncle LeRoy) and an older sister (my Aunt Evelyn, or Mousie).

Aunt Evelyn married Uncle Warren and became step-mother of his two sons by a previous marriage, Warren S. Wilkins, Jr and Robert Edison Wilkins. (Uncle Warren and Aunt Evelyn never had any children from their union.)

I know more about his sons, Bobby & Warren, Jr., than I do about him, and now their children are parents. This page is an anchor for his grandchildren's children, and their parents will have to collect the pieces of his life and preserve them here.

All I really know about Uncle Warren is that he was Head of Pathology at the Howard University Medical School, and was apparently very highly regarded in his field.

Bobby died while his wife, Mary Jane, was pregnant with their first child, Charles Robert. I remember that it was during the summer, because the family was in Stockbridge, MA at my paternal grandmother's guest house. We heard the story in fragments by telephone as it unfolded. Uncle Warren flew to Louisianna to perform the autopsy himself. Mary Jane came to live with Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Warren in Washington, DC until her son was born. Today, she lives with her son and grandchildren in Louisianna.

Warren, Jr. was closer to my sister's age, so I was not as close to him when I was growing up, but business has taken me to the Los Angeles area many times over the last few decades, so I've visited him often enough to watch his three children (Michelle, Monique, and Warren the Third) as they progressed from wearing diapers to changing diapers.
