Chicks for Free Her Mother's Daughter:
The Coming of Age Portrait

07760011 Here is a portrait of the daughter of a co-worker from Kodak, back in 1973. This was a birthday present, and it was probably her 18th, so it was the high school graduation picture, too - something to help her remember when her daughter went off to college a few months later.

This woman knew my work, and I think that I was still living with my first wife (Beth) at the time. I did two styles and let her choose.

One was a traditional studio shot - she wore a plain turtle neck sweater and a plaid skirt that went down to her ankles. I sat her on a seamless gray backdrop, arranged the skirt around her, and photographer her from a high angle.

The second was a Denny Harrod faux-nude, which was to remind Mom that she was a Big Girl now, and she could pose for it if she wanted to, or not.

Here are six digital posterizations made from the original negative. :-)
