This is Carol
Knox, a model that I used a lot while a student at R.I.T. This one was done in one of the campus
studios, while I was learning how to use electronic flash to acheive
"natural" lighting for portraits.
You see, the nude provides a scuplted surface for the light, and it's uniformity of tone and texture does not conceal the shadows or highlights. I took a lot of nudes like this just to test exposure/development combinations, attempting to apply Ansel Adams' zone system to a controlled environment.
