Chicks for Free
This is probably the first semi-nude I showed my parents. The model is wearing the
bottom half of a bikini, but it is hidden behind the tree. Because we
lived near a National Park, I had access to secluded, public areas to
photograph nudes in the woods. I was 18 years old when I took this
photograph; a high school graduate; an Eagle Scout; a Good Boy.
[footnote] My Eagle medal was pinned on my uniform by my mother during a ceremony in the private chambers of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. The Boy Scout's Roman Catholic "God & Country" award, Ad Altare Dei, was pinned on my uniform by the Archbishop of Washington, DC. [/footnote]
For my 16th birthday, my sister bought me a subscription to Playboy. My mother read the Alex Haley interview of Malcolm X that was printed there before I had a chance to see the issue. I was going to go to college and major in photography so that I could shoot pictures for Playboy as a career.
My parents
had taught me the difference between a Good Nude and Pornography, and they
trusted me. My father decided that
since I had no problem finding willing models, he would rather that I
photograph them in the house, so they let me set up a spare bedroom
(formerly my sister's room) as a studio.
The models usually met my grandmother or my parents first, depending on the day of the week. The basement was the darkroom, and the model sometimes joined me to see the entire operation through, and have prints to take home that very day.
These photographs, as well as the one on the cover, were taken with either a Hasselblad or a Nikon. The first two were both part of the collection that my father & I carried to my admission interview to become a Professional Photography major in the College of Graphic Arts & Photography at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
In other words, I took these semi-nude pictures as part of a portfolio to try to get into college, and I had the cooperation and support of my parents while doing it. I did not violate the chastity of any of my models while I was a legal minor, nor have I ever molested a virgin. But not every photographer of nudes is an Eagle Scout.
Now you know something about me, my background, and my attitude. The following is what every parent should share with their daughter as soon as they feel that she's old enough to know this part of the Adult Conspiracy.
