Col. Vondell Carter's HomePage
This is Col. Vondell Carter, USAF one of my Carter cousins, and the highest ranking officer in the U.S. Armed Forces from my family. We are blood-kin - he is first cousin to my father. His father (Uncle William) was the brother of my father's mother (Donna). He was one of Uncle William and Aunt Lillian's six children.
He is still living in Washington, DC - in a condo across the hall from his brother Maurice and his wife. Their other surviving brother brother, Wyndell, still lives in Vienna, VA in the house where Great-grandma Florence Thompson lived. The house is located on the corner of the lot with The Big House (as I always called it) where there surviving sister Marion lives.
When I went down to DC in the Summer of 1995, he and Maurice gave me a shopping bag full of old family photos. (You can see the pink bag in the lower right hand corner of the Polaroid.) They told me who a lot of the people were, and most of them I recognized. Some were total strangers to me, having died before I was born. Today (09-Oct-95) I am finally getting around to scanning the photos and creating HTML pages to explain them, so this is where I'm starting.
