Monday June 13, 2005 7:05 AM EDT - Corning, NY

We got into DC after midnight Sunday morning, dropped some stuff off at my crib, let Howard cuddle Chiana for a bit, then down to Varnum Street ... Talked with Phyllisolive about the trip until 03:00, then back to my place, leaving Howard to sleep in my old bedroom.

I had trouble getting to sleep, but managed to sleep until noon, then caught up on e-mail and other stuff ... Eudora is frelled, so had to use my verizon.net account for outgoing mail.

There were a couple of power failures while I was gone ... the analog and half of the digital clocks are flashing, so both bedroom clocks are incorrect ... the TV and VCR/DVD had to have their clocks reset and the channels scanned again ... Zathras is off by about 2 hours ... I'll deal with them when I get back.

Chiana has been taking dumps beside the bed since Phynque covered it with plastic (she soiled two sets of clean sheets!!) so I moved her litter box from the bathroom to that spot ... the toilet is leaking, and while I was sitting on it, Chiana started to get in the box, but the sound of thee tank refilling startled her and she backed away, so that might be part of the problem ... I'll have Kevin look at it when I get back.

Vincent came by to see Howard last night and we watched a new episode of "The Family Guy" (Quagmire did "the nasty" with Cleveland's wife), then Phynque took him home ... we left about midnight, which was the plan ... we've made a few stops to stretch and switch, and have about two hours left before we reach the end of the journey ... then the truck has to be unloaded and stuff sorted out before it goes into storage ... there's some boxes for me, so I guess I'll ship one and carry the other one back with me on the train ... Howard will leave from the same station for Boston (Syracuse, NY), but we haven't made reservations yet.

Giving Howard the phone now to call the folks we'll be meeting in a few hours ... think I'll try to take a nap after we get past Syracuse.

10:30 AM - Govenour, NY

WE HAVE ARRIVED!! Only had to cross the same bridge THREE times before we found the Street With No Name. <sigh!>

2:08 PM - same place

Waiting for the Greyhound bus (paid on my RadioShack plastic) to Syracuse ... the last train is at 15:45, so I'll miss it by over an hour ... next train is in the morning, so I'll stay the ight there ... had a nice lunch at Jumbo's, served by Tammy, the newest owner ... missed meeting John, but met his wife, Julie ... will write more when I'm on the bus ... maybe.

2:57 PM - on the bus

Well, the bus was late, and we’re only 20 minutes behind schedule ... 20 minutes before it was due I realized that I'd left my jackets on a hanger on the front porch, and even though it was only a few blocks away, I didn't think I could make it there and back in time ... Howard & Julie went to get them and made it back with plenty of time to spare ... called Phynque to let her know that I'd be home tomorrow night instead of in the morning.

It's just starting to rain ... they're on foot, so I hope they mad it back t the house in time to get the stuff inside from the porch! Man, it is really coming down ... visibility is so poor that the driver has slowed down to half the legal speed.
