Rain of Blood
A System for Training the betleH
To understand a subtle nuance of ro' Doq training in the betleH,
you must take into consideration the differences in betleH design.
The betleH has five areas used for attack on each side:
- The inside and outside tips are used for stabbing techniques.
- The back and forward edges are for cutting or hacking.
- The hook is used for trapping or pinning.
The center edge is used for very close range fighting and for blocking. This area is
sometimes unsharpened, or even set with a row of steel rings that nick and blunt
an opponent's weapon.
KDF betleH
The standard Klingon Defense Force issue betleH (and the training sets for it) are
intended for use in close, confined spaces, such as boarding a ship. It has a sharp curve
to the edges, angling the tips for punching motions.
ro' Doq betleH
The betleH used in ro' Doq is 25% longer, with straighter tips.
It is designed for use in open spaces, with emphasis on spear-like stabbing motions.
