OK, so, like, one day I get this idea that I've been away from social contact for too long, but, like, I don't want to violate my space by inviting a bunch of strangers into my crib, dig?
So, anyway, I finally decide that the kind of party I want to host on a regular basis is a Double Feature Video SIG that occupies a four to five hour time slot on a weekend or Friday evening ... two videos and a pizza break ... or maybe a two-reeler like Dances With Wolves † or The Seven Samurai †.
All I need is a place to host it ... I was thinking twice a month ... and here's what I offer for the first six sessions - a Sean Connery Festival. I have seven of his films in my video collection:
For example, Hunt for Red October † with another nuclear ballistic missile submarine movie, Crimson Tide †. Maybe Zardoz with A Boy and His Dog, since both are post-apocolyptic SciFi adventures. Either Just Cause †, Rising Sun †, or Name of the Rose † with any other murder mystery. Highlander with Highlander III. (I don't have a copy of the second one. :-)
Other subjects for future meetings include a Magnificent Seven / Seven Samurai Festival that includes a SciFi remake of 7S named Battle Beyond the Stars (with Robert Vaughn playing the same character and lines as he did in M7) and a fourth movie that is has nothing to do with the other three except that it uses all of the space battle exterior scenes and the musical soundtrack from BBtS ... recycled footage and audio!!

The titles are linked to plot summaries in The Internet Movie Database except for the ones with a "†", which are reviews by Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times.That is all I have to say. -=DAH=- 1997-03-05
