Hmmmm ... first "on-line" entry of the year. I did some scans of Polaroids tonight ... shots of FurFace and some of my scale model kits. I spent Christmas opening kits that had been sitting in boxes in my closet for up to five years ... I read the instructions, examined the pieces and decals, and even assembled a few fusalages and wings with rubber bands so that I could see how big a case they would need. Then they went back into their boxes until some undeterminable date in the future. It was fun!
Christmas Kitty
FurFace playing with her scratching post on 1996-12-25 ...
I'd just given her a new Bag-O-Catnip to play with. :-} Note the tray of parts for one of
my scale model kits on top of the "U-HAUL" box in the upper right hand corner.
1:48 scale A-10 Thunderbolt II (1996-12-25)
This is a kit that I've been working on for a few months, usually when a particular friend
comes over to watch an video during the afternoon. On Xmas Day, I spray painted the ordinance and
the fuel tank for it ... the Maverick missiles are white, and can hardly be seen in this
shot because of the white background. There are really only half as many bombs as there appear
to be, because these are halves that still need to be glued together ... a project complete one
evening while watching TV.
A-6 and F-14 (1997-01-06)
These are partially assembled 1:48 scale models of an A-6E Intruder and an F-14 Tomcat. I figure that
17x17 inch cases should work well for each one.
F-16 and A-10 (197-01-06)
I decided to document my 1:48 scale collection. The F-16 Falcon as a "Snap-Tite" kit that I bought just
after Xmas and plan to paint with the current Israeli camoflage scheme. The A-10 Thunderbolt is the same
one pictured above on Xmas Day.
P-38, Bf-109, P-51 (199-01-06)
Three of my World War II models that are "strictly for reference", i.e., I glued them together,
but they have not been painted nor had any decals applied. They are not in cases, and they are collecting
dust on top of the TV. One day, when I have more cases, I will build kits (perhaps from other companies,
perhaps the exact same kit) and do "fine detail" work on them, even buying after-market parts and decals
to represent specific, identifiable airplanes.
New Year's Kitty (1997-01-01)
FurFace sitting on her blanket, on the back of the sofa, "guarding" my paints.
Bag-O-Cat (1997-01-07) If there's anything a cat likes more than a bag, it's certainly not as
inexpensive to obtain, unless it's a warm radiator. :-)
