Pop called around sundown to tell me that
Mousie had passed away, just a few hours earlier
... around the
very time he called to tell me that she had called him the night before to
tell him that she was going to the emergency room. I'm glad they were talking
again. I'm glad she went quickly and painlessly.
When I saw Mousie last summer around the 4th of July, she said that this was her favorite snapshot of herself, of the ones I had taken. She also had one of her & Donna from the same day.
I am in Mourning now, but will wait until I'm with my cousins as we lay her
body to rest to Grieve and "shed water for the dead". I did enough crying for
her when she was alive, when I had to throw her out of the house on Kenyon
Street where she had been living for the past five years, ever since
Donna died. (Yes, Pop had said she could
stay there, but not forever! :-) Still, it was a Stone Cold thing to do,
and I'm sorry I didn't get to sing for her again.
This is Polaroid of Mousie that I took in
1988 ... she's listening to Wagner on my portable CD player.
I have a job interview on Tuesday for the position of WebMaster at a Waltham company with a dozen employees. I'll have American Express put me on the last flight out of Logan that day ... the funeral will not be before Wednesday. I'll be prepare to stay there until the weekend, so I'll book a Sunday return flight ... if I can endure it that long. -=DAH=-
That is all I have to say. -=DAH=- 14-Jul-96
