I just go, "Duh!" as I reach into my wallet and pull out a Harrods credit card and explain that I usually use my American Express card when I shop there because they bill me in dollars using the current exchange rate for the day the charge hits the system. Harrods uses surface mail to send me the bill, and it's in pounds, so it's always late, and the payment is usually off by a few pennies by the time it gets to them because of the change in the exchange rates!
That usually shuts them up. :-)
On 24-Mar-96, I used one of the Internet search engines to find URLs of people who share my last name, and contacted some of them. People who send me e-mail are added to the (non-alphabetic) list below. If anyone on the list wants to contact anyone else on the list, that's their business. I guarantee that this Web page will always be here … I make no promises as to how often it will change, or how people will use the URLs.

Twenty five years ago, a bank in Rochester, NY misprinted my checks as "Denmette A. Harrop", mis-spelling both my first and last name. I never knew that there really are people named "Harrop".
Several years ago, I met a man named "Pat Harrow" from the U.K., and we have been friends ever since, delighting in the confusion of being mistaken for each other by people who have never met either of us. (I'll add a photo of the two of us together Real Soon Now. :-)
